A total solar eclipse is set to take place on April 8, 2024.
It will pass from northern Mexico, go through southwest into New England.
In Texas, from 12.10 pm to 3.10 pm, there will be almost total loss of sunlight.
According to scientists, there will be a significant drop in solar generation in most of the U.S. during this time.
The solar production is estimated to drop from 15,000 to 1000 megawatt in Texas.
Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) suggests that its power generation will drop from 99.2% to 7.6%.
Power generation will be affected in other regions too but Texas depends heavily on solar power.
ERCOT spokesperson said that it will use all tools to maintain grid reliability and keep public informed.
Earlier too, ERCOT has suffered from extra burden on power grid due to extreme weather conditions.
