America is rich culturally as its society is woven with diverse cultures from all across the world. Its inclusiveness has a distinct American flavour and food defines it the best.

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) opines that "raw milk can harbour dangerous microorganisms". Hence it is dangerous for health.
Horse meat: It is interesting to note that America exports horse meat to the countries where it is eaten but within America, eating it is more of a taboo than it is illegal.
By banning the funding on horse meat inspection, the govt has made it harder to eat it.
Sea Turtles: These beautiful creatures are endangered species. The US has banned its consumption, though in some 42 countries it is still eaten.
Junk Food: You will be surprised to know this as America is considered the birthplace of 'junk food'. There is no dearth of it in the US but some states like California, New York and New Jersey have banned it in schools due to its negative impact on children's health.
Swan: There are some swans which are endangered species. One can eat tundra swan in some states but eating trumpeter swan, which is native to North America, is strictly prohibited.
Silver Dragees: Many baked goods have silver sprinklers on them as decorations. But the FDA puts these sprinklers in the category of inedible. So, you can buy silver dragees to decorate your food, but you can't eat them.
Epoisses Cheese: This cheese is strong in Odor and flavour. Though it is eaten in France, it is not allowed in America as it is made of raw milk.
Shark Fins: Though food experts consider shark fins soup a delicacy, it is not legal in 12 American states to consume shark fins. Since Shark finning has raised some ethical questions, many US states have banned it.
