Cults are basically social movements and usually have nothing to do with religious doctrines.

All cults are not vicious but those that are, are quite terrifying as has been revealed by their former followers.

Congregation for the Light, also known as Manhattan's Secret Cult is a doomsday cult.

The group allegedly supports corporal punishment, band homosexuality and high education for women.

Unification Church: It has a strong anti-LGBTQ stance. It still has about 3 million followers across the world.

Twelve Tribes: It was started in the mid-70s by Elbert Spriggs aka Yoneq. Though accused of child abuse and other offences, it is still active.

Church of Bible Understanding: It was accused of brainwashing its followers.

Kashi Ashram: Started by Ma Jaya Sati Bhagwati in Florida in the 70s, the Ashram was accused of emotional and physical assaults.

It began in the 70s. Its followers wore spaceship-like uniforms, shared many conspiracy theories. It still has online presence.
