The series of lay-offs which began in 2022 and 2023 post Covid, haven't yet finished and we will see many companies cutting jobs this year too. Here's a list of some of these big firms.
Amazon: In an effort to control costs, the e-commerce company is planning to cut off hundreds of jobs in their films and television studio and Twitch streaming platform.
Google: The search engine giant is trying to balance its recruitment spree during pandemic by eliminating hundreds of jobs in hardware and internal software tool departments.
Citigroup: The bank said that following a major restructuring plan, it would do away with 20,000 jobs by the end of 2026.
eBay: The online shopping platform said that with an aim to boost performance in the time of rising competition, it will lay off almost 1,000 employees.
Microsoft: The tech giant is laying off 19,00 jobs or 8% of its videogame staff. The move has come after the company's acquisition of Activision Blizzard last year.
Universal Music Group: According to sources, the music company is planning to lay off 100 to 300 employees globally.
Sports Illustrated: The reputed sports publication major layoffs after the publisher of the magazine said it failed to pay its license fee.
Xerox: The printer maker plans to cut down its workforce by 15%. In 2022, the company had 20,500 employees.
