The New York Mets have signed left-handed pitcher Sean Manaea to a two-year, $28 million contract. The agreement gives Manaea an opt out after 2024 season.
Manaea becomes the third pitcher acquired by the New York Mets this offseason.
Former New York Yankees right-hander Luis Severino was signed to a one year $13 million free agent contract.
And on December 20, a trade with the Milwaukee Brewers sent right-hander Adrian Houser to the Mets.
The left-hander Manaea will balance a rotation that is fronted by right-hander Kodai Sanga, Soverino and Houser.
The Mets are said to be in touch with free agents Hyun-Jin Riu and Shota Imanaga. Both are lefties.
While Mets will continue to add to the rotation, it is still not certain whether these two pitchers are still being considered or not.
The Mets say that they expect to be competitive in 2024 and the recent moves should give them a chance.
