Iconic American song-writer, singer, musician and actor Prince has a special place in modern music the world over.
Soon his super hit 1984 film 'Purple Rain' will become a Broadway musical with a book from the Pulitzer prize finalist Brandon Jacob Jenkins.
The musical will be directed by Lileana-Blain Cruz, a Tony award nominee. Song and music will come from Prince.

'Purple Rain' revolves around a young singer, his difficulties, rivalry and his love. It was Prince's silver screen debut.
The film went on to win the Oscar for the best original score and earned 100mm $ worldwide at the box office.
The album remained on the top of US charts for 24 weeks and sold about 25 million copies.
The album included the melodious and forever green songs such as I would Die 4 U, Let's Go Crazy and When Doves Cry.
Prince passed away in 2016. He had a brilliant career that saw him selling more than 100 million records worldwide.
