Addressing the Ajanta Ellora International Film Festival, Javed Akhtar talked about the kind of films and songs being written today.
He also talked about the kind of songs being written today and mentioned the controversial 'Choli Ke Pichhe' by Anand Bakhshi.
Akhtar said the real issue with the song is not the seven men and two women dancing on this song, but the fact that people made it a smashing hit.
He said that if a film which shows a man asking a woman to lick his shoes or slaps a woman, becomes a massive hit, it is dangerous.
He was hinting at the misogyny, Snadeep Reddy Wanga's films show And if such films and such songs are hit then it reveals this stark truth about our own society.
Sandeep Reddy Wanga's 'Animal' hit the theatres in December, 2023. Starring Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandhana, Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol.
Though the film was severely criticised by almost all critics and reviewers, it ran successfully at the box office.
This film was not only filled with violence but also projected 'alpha male' as a regressive misogynist one.
Sandeep Reddy Wanga's previous film 'kabir Singh' too had apparent misogynist tones and still clicked on the box office
